Elizabeth enters the waiting room of an ambiguous office with her Aunt C; they are their for her aunt's regular appointment. After The Receptionist calls Aunt C back into the office, Elizabeth, left in the waiting room, stumbles into conversation with everyone who passes through the waiting room (The Woman, The Stranger, and Number 39). As the waiting room devolves into an absurd and confusing landscape, the play explores the factors that shape our sense of self, the nature of female role models/female relationships, and the ways in which we engage in our own lives.
